On Sunday, the SmackDown exclusive pay-per-view Backlash will take place at the Allstate Arena in Chicago. The PPV is the WWE’s second event since Wrestlemania and it needs to deliver in a major way. This week’s SmackDown rating was the lowest of the year, and the blue brand is in desperate need of a revival. Every single one of the title matches needs to deliver beyond expectations for life to be breathed back into the show.

As a firm fixture of the mid-card, the SmackDown tag team championships are integral to the success of Backlash. In the title bout, we will see the defending champions the Usos take on the challengers Breezango.

The odds suggest that the Usos are clear 4/6 favourites, with not many giving Breezango any chance. However, in the WWE you never know what would happen in the squared circle. This match may not be as clear-cut as we all first thought.

Here are 5 possible finishes to the Usos (c) vs. Breezango.

#5 Breezango go over clean

Let’s face it, nobody expects the fashion police to win on Sunday. But this is what’s great about the WWE – expect the unexpected. You may think you know who the WWE management want to push, but sometimes they spring a surprise.

To turn them from a comedy act into a legit tag team, Breezango must go over clean on Sunday. The only way to turn wrestlers into stars is through the wins you give them and how much trust you show in them.

A marquee title win would send Breezango on the path to stardom in a time when the blue brand’s tag team division needs a revival of sorts.

#4 Fandango turns on Tyler Breeze

Fandango has lost 67% of his matches in the WWE

All good things must come to an end, but in this case, a bad thing must come to an end. Since becoming a duo on Tuesday nights, Breezango have been the laughing stock of the tag team division. They’re two talented wrestlers that have been forced to prance around the locker room in ridiculous outfits and forced to perform horrible skits.

The duo has been presented as filler on the show and it is time for a much-needed revamp.

After they lose to the Usos, the camera needs to pan to a dejected Tyler Breeze on his knees in the ring. As Fandango pretends to console his devastated teammate, he needs to deliver a kick to the back of the head of his partner. The turn would send shockwaves around the WWE and allow Fandango to reclaim his momentum from early 2013.

#3 The Usos get DQ’d intentionally

As the most boastful heels on the blue brand, the Usos should be doing all they can to hold onto championship gold. In wrestling, we know that babyfaces endure and persevere while heels cheat and take shortcuts; that’s the foundation of wrestling and what we’ve grown up to love and adore.

For the Usos to continue to be those heels that talk more than they fight, an intentional disqualification needs to happen.

Just as Breezango begin to pick up steam, one of the Usos needs to retreat outside the ring and use a steel chair on their opponents. The act would exude aggression, cowardliness and fear; the perfect mix for the reigning heel tag team champions.

#2 The Usos use twin magic

The same way the Bella Twins swindled their way to countless victories, the Usos could walk out of Backlash still the SmackDown tag team champions. After a ferocious back and forth match, the Usos need to sell the audience short by giving them a cheap and despicable finish.

As Fandango climbs the top rope to deliver a leg drop to Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso should push Tyler into the crowd, thus creating a distraction that the referee turns to. As the referee’s back is turned, Jey Uso should swap with the fatigued Jimmy Uso, block Fandango’s leg drop and deliver a superkick. Thus resulting in an easy 1-2-3 pin.

#1 American Alpha cost the Usos the title

With bad blood comes a warranted repercussion. As the inaugural SmackDown tag team champions, American Alpha’s path on SmackDown has been somewhat disjointed. Ever since their debut on the main roster, the Usos have been the thorn in their sides.

This thorn turned to a wound when the Usos put Chad Gable on the shelf for 6 weeks. Since then, the American Alphas have been an afterthought in the tag team division. It’s time for them to get some justified revenge.

As the Usos are just about to deliver their super kicks, the American Alpha’s music needs to hit, causing the Usos to turn around, allowing Breezango to deliver their finishing moves. The result would give Breezango a much-needed win plus create genuine animosity between AA and the Usos, allowing them to continue their captivating feud.
