4 Title Changes expected to happen at SummerSlam

Roman vs Lesnar
Who will walk away with the gold?

The 2018 SummerSlam will emanate live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn New York. It will be the thirty-first event under the SummerSlam chronology, and the Barclays Center will host the PPV for the fourth year in a row.

SummerSlam is the WWE's second biggest PPV next to WrestleMania, and it's fitting that such a magnanimous event needs to deliver on all grounds, and this year's edition makes no difference.

WWE has a stacked card for this year's SummerSlam, and the stakes cannot get any higher. 13 matches have been made official for the event so far, and out of which 9 are title matches.

Speculations are high on which of those nine championships will change hands this Sunday. Cageside Seats have reported that at least four title changes could happen at SummerSlam. With that in mind, let's look at those titles which titles can change hands this Sunday at SummerSlam.

#4 The SmackDown Women's Championship

The face off
Will it be Becky or will it be Charlotte?

SmackDown Women's Champion Carmella will put her title on the line against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam. Both Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair earned the title shot after defeating Carmella in singles competition.

With the first ever all women's PPV "Evolution" set to take place next month it's questionable that Carmella will retain the title at SummerSlam. WWE could put the title on either Charlotte or Becky Lynch and have one of them walk into Evolution as the SmackDown Women's Champion.

Multiple rumors suggested that Asuka would also get added to the SummerSlam title match, but that did not come to fruition. We can expect Asuka to get back into the title scene by the time of the Evolution PPV. We can expect a fatal four-way match for the title at Evolution involving Charlotte, Lynch, Asuka, and Carmella.

So it is possible that Carmella will drop the title to either Charlotte or Becky Lynch this Sunday at SummerSlam.

#3 The Intercontinental Championship

Will the Lunatic turn on the Architect?
Will the Lunatic turn on the Architect?

Seth Rollins lost the Intercontinental Championship to Dolph Ziggler on the post MITB episode of Raw and had two unsuccessful attempts in reclaiming the title from Ziggler.

Drew McIntyre has played a significant role on the ongoing feud between Rollins and Ziggler and had assisted the latter in retaining the title in multiple occasions.

But Rollins has found an equalizer in the returning Dean Ambrose who will be on the Architect's corner during the Intercontinental Championship match at SummerSlam. The current expectations are that Ambrose would turn on Rollins this Sunday and cost him the championship.

But that might not happen so soon, and WWE could let it play out a little longer until the right time for the Lunatic Fringe to turn on Seth Rollins. So we can expect Rollins to regain the title from Ziggler this Sunday at SummerSlam.

#2 The Raw Women's Championship

Rousey vs Bliss
Poor little Bliss!

The Raw Women's Championship will change hands for the same reason as the one mentioned for the SmackDown women's title, and that is the Evolution PPV.

With the historic event set to happen next month, WWE will look to take the women's titles off Alexa Bliss and Carmella. The Raw women's division is stale ever since Ronda Rousey got into the title scene. Sasha Banks and Bayley are nowhere near the title picture, and Nia Jax is out of action due to an injury.

WWE will have no choice but to put the title on Rousey this Sunday at SummerSlam and have her walk into Evolution as the Raw Women's Champion.

#1 The Universal Championship

Universal Title
Who will walk out with the Big Red Belt?

We expected this to happen at WrestleMania 34 and at the Greatest Royal Rumble and Lesnar came out victorious on both occasions. But this time the tides could turn in favor of the Big Dog and we might witness Roman Reigns conquer the Beast.

Roman Reigns is the favorite to defeat Lesnar this Sunday and win the Universal Championship, but will he be able to walk out of SummerSlam with the Championship?

Mr. MITB Braun Strowman will be lurking in the shadows sitting tight for the perfect opportunity to cash in the contract and become the new Universal Champion. The Universal Championship bout could go on longer than expected and could be one of the longest matches Lesnar has had in a while.

If it comes to fruition and Reigns defeats Lesnar in a hard-hitting match and left with no energy, it could be the perfect opportunity for Mr. MITB to capitalize.

Strowman might not take advantage of a weakened opponent, but Kevin Owens would love to do so. If Owens defeats Strowman in their match, he will get the latter's MITB contract. So one way or the other either Reigns, Strowman or Owens will walk out of SummerSlam as the new Universal Champion.
