द ग्रेट खली का सबसे खराब Royal Rumble मैच साल 2014 में आया। उस समय तक द शील्ड(रोमन रेंस, डीन एम्ब्रोज़ और सैथ रॉलिंस) एक टीम के रूप में ही काम कर रहे थे, जो भी उनके सामने आया उसे मुंह की ही खानी पड़ रही थी।

Royal Rumble 2014 में भी कुछ ऐसा ही हुआ। भारतीय सुपरस्टार ने नंबर-16 पर एंट्री ली। अभी उन्हें रिंग में उतरे 24 ही सेकेंड हुए थे तभी द शील्ड के तीनों मेंबर्स ने उन्हें रिंग से बाहर धकेल दिया।
